Dryer vents should always be vented through the side of the house and not vented through the roof and ideally the exit should be fairly close to the ground.

Another name for venting through the wall is called horizontal wall venting.
We will assume that you have vinyl siding installed on your house.

We are installing a custom wood range hood and can t decide between venting through our wall or heading through the roof.
Keeping a clean dryer vent is much easier when you can safely reach the exit.
Going through the roof the run would be about 3 4 straight up.
How to install a range hood vent through the wall.
The range sits on an exterior wall so heading though the wall would give the run a 90 degree turn.
The procedure is similar to the installation of the kitchen hood vent through the roof but it is slightly different though.
You can also fit through the ceiling but make sure you bring the pipe outside so through the roof tiles or in some other way some people have connected to the vent pipe but i do not reccomend it.
Vent a dryer through the roof only as a last resort.
